How to fix tunnelling
If your candle starts to tunnel (wax hang up on side of jar), your wick can have troubles staying lit. If it hasn't gone too far - oftentimes it can be fixed.
how?
1. Use a hair dryer to melt the top evenly. Stop when the surface is flat
or
2. Try the tin foil method here
ps: the container will be warm to touch when candle is lit
to prevent tunnelling next time:
- First burn: allow the wax to melt fully to the edges. Candles have a “wax memory,” so the first burn sets the pattern for even burning
- Avoid short burns (under 1 hour)
